McKinnon Cricket Club | August 2021 | Presidents Update

20 Aug 2021 by Brodie Grewcock

To the McKinnon Cricket Club Community,

I hope you are all well and staying strong in these weird and difficult times.

I just thought I would give you all an update into the going-ons over the off season.

Well we finally got to have the AGM, thank-you to all who attended the zoom meeting, which surprisingly went well.

Once again there was no takeover of the Presidency, feel free to arrange something for next season.

Andy Kane is the new Secretary, Dan Weingart is the new Treasurer, good luck to you both in these roles, I’m sure you will do a great job.

Welcome to Mick Dawes who has joined the general committee, which is also made up of Gordon Grewcock, Krishna Thota, Matthew Moore and Jake Halasz.

Congratulations to Matthew Moore for a thoroughly deserved Life Member Award. Matt’s contributions over the years have been tremendous and it was a great honour for me to see him receive this.

Subs will go back to pre-covid prices. The subs are $350 for the seniors, $250 for intermediate players and $205 for juniors with a $10 reduction for any other sibling.

We are fortunate to have the backing of a tremendous sponsorship group and we thank all sponsors for their generous support.

Please keep these sponsors in mind when making decisions relevant to your needs.
Carpetworks, Lifetime Pine, Bentleigh Wine Store, Murrumbeena Bendigo Branch, Bentleigh RSL and our newest addition Gary Peer Real Estate.

At this stage, CSB is still planning on a Saturday 2nd October start date, hopefully this will happen.

The coaches will be sending out some fitness programs, so hopefully you will stay fit and be ready for the start of the season.

CSB at this stage, will be returning to a 7 one dayers and 7 two dayer season, with most likely the majority of the one dayers at the start.

Once again there will be no teas, so the committee will be looking at putting a bigger variety behind the bar this season so you can purchase what you need.

Juniors will hopefully commence their pre-season training on the 1st weekend of September. This season we will definitely have a Sunday U/17 team playing on turf, so please spread the word. With having the U/17s playing on turf, in my opinion it will be a better transition to seniors cricket.

Welcome to our new recruits, Jack O’Shea, Lee Weiss and Luke Heath. These three guys all come from very successful clubs and hopefully will bring success with them to McKinnon. Good Luck guys!

Hopefully Covid doesn’t interrupt our season so please remember to do the right things around the club and we can all have a successful season.

Kind Regards,

Paul Cox
